September 16, 2004 At the Milan Triennial, a rare opportunity to see some of the finest contemporary Italian design on the occasion of the 20th edition of the ADI Premio Compasso dOro (ADI Golden Compass Award), which for the last fifty years has been the most prestigious recognition for designers and enterprises. The international jury, made up of the Executive Committee of ADI and three honorary members, terminated its examination of the projects and products selected and voted to assign the prestigious award to the Brera, by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Rarely has the complex combination of volumes that make up the body of an automobile been expressed with such clear, essential, harmonious lines: the result is one of the loveliest, most fascinating automobiles ever built. The ADI Premio Compasso dOro (ADI Golden Compass Award), that is the maximum national award for the project, product, research and creativity, had already been assigned to Giorgetto Giugiaro and his company located in Moncalieri - Italdesign Giugiaro - in 1981 for the design of the Panda, in 1984 for his whole career, in 1991 for Isotron, the Eurodent dental equipment, designed by Giugiaro Design and again in 1994 for his design of the Fiat Punto. |
